Diamond and Onyx Dress SetDiamond and Onyx! |
An elegant diamond and onyx dress set from the 1920s. The diamonds rest in brilliant settings with mille grain edges. The white gold borders surrounding the black onyx are engraved with a dramatic Art Deco zigzag pattern. The striking contrast between black and white captures the elegance of the era. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1925.
Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs. The studs repeat the elegant diamond and onyx design of the cufflinks. The shirt studs (one pictured above) are 5/16" in diameter and 1" long.
The backs of jewels should be as well crafted as the fronts. The reverse of these cufflinks and shirt studs are beautifully crafted in 14kt yellow gold and polished to a mirror-like finish. Please excuse the dark reflections from my camera. The cufflinks are secured on the cuff with a linkage of sturdy cross bars and brackets.
This dress set was created by Carter, Gough & Company, makers of fine gold and platinum jewelry during the early decades of the last century. The maker's mark for Carter, Gough (an arrowhead surrounding a small "C") is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks just to the right of the precious metal mark, "14K".
