An elegant Art Deco study in blue and white
with a rich blue man-made sapphire and sparkling diamond set in
white gold. The bright setting is richly embellished with
scrolls and geometric motifs and a fine wire filigree with
millegrain edges frames the gemstones. This elegant
stickpin was created by Krementz & Co. in 14kt white and
yellow gold circa 1920. The early 20th century was a period of innovation and change in jewelry design and manufacture. Two significant innovations were the introduction of man-made sapphires around 1900 and white gold around 1920. Both were considered fashionably modern during the Jazz Age of the 1920s. Cost: $525The back of the stickpin is crafted in yellow gold with a sturdy gold pin stem securing the jewel when worn. The Krementz maker's mark (a stylized collar button) and "14K" for the purity of the gold are stamped on the upper right side of the pin stem. |
