Carrington "B" CufflinksCarrington "B" |
Elegant gold cufflinks with "B" monograms in flowing script. During the decades around 1900 distinctive monograms and intricate ciphers were often engraved to personalize cufflinks and other jewels. Created by Carrington & Co. in 14kt gold, circa 1920.
The backs of the cufflinks are well crafted and polished to a bright finish. Note the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure these double-sided links on the cuff. Please excuse the shadowy, darker areas in the photograph - they are reflections from the camera.
The maker's mark for Carrington & Company, a "C" enclosing a "14", is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. Carrington was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's gold and platinum cuff jewels were often retailed by Tiffany & Company and other carriage trade jewelers of the day.
