Carrington Jade CufflinksCarrington Jade |
Envy provoking green jades set in yellow
gold. The translucence of the jade allows light to
illuminate these cufflinks in a manner reminiscent of sunlight
passing through a stained glass window. A classic meander
of foliage and scrolls decorates the outer edges of the bezel
settings. These elegant cufflinks were created by
Carrington and Co. in 14kt gold circa 1910.
The backs of the cufflinks confirm Carrington's well earned reputation for fine, uncompromising craftsmanship. Note the sturdy gold frames that cradle the jades and support the brackets and cross bars which secure the cufflinks on the cuff.
The Carrington maker's mark (a squared "C"
enclosing "14") is stamped on the crossbars.
Carrington & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm was known for its elegant designs, uncompromising craftsmanship and exceptional materials. Its creations were retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
