Art Deco Gold CufflinksOptical Magic! |
Elegant Art Deco cufflinks with a bold geometric look that captures the spirit of Art Deco design. These Carrington & Company cufflinks even have a little secret ... a bit of optical magic. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1935.
Carrington & Company was one of the most diverse makers of fine cufflinks during the years from 1900 to the 1950. Carrington was based in Newark, New Jersey and supplied beautiful platinum and gold cufflinks to many of the finest jewelers of the day. Now for the optical magic! If you stare briefly at these cufflinks, the geometric design will switch between repeated concentric rectangles to a pattern of diamond shapes on a field of vertical lines. The effect is much like the Magic Eye pictures with which my niece and nephew love to test me.
The backs of the cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts. The links are connected with sturdy cross bars and brackets and the backs polished to a mirror-like finish - please excuse the reflections from my camera. The backs of the cufflinks are stamped with the hallmark of Carrington & Company, (a "C" surrounding "14") and the initials ("PH") of the the original owner. Name: Optical Magic!
