Carrington Mother-of-Pearl CufflinksPlatinum and Pearl II |
Platinum borders of engraved laurel wreaths
surround creamy white mother-of-pearl centers. The
shimmering duet of white on white speaks to the elegance of Art
Deco cufflinks. Created by Carrington & Company in
platinum and 14kt gold, circa 1925.
The 14kt yellow gold backs of the cufflinks were crafted with the same care and craftsmanship as the fronts. Note the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. The yellow gold backs are polished to a bright, mirror-like finish (please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera).
The maker's mark of Carrington & Company, a squared "C" surrounding "14", is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. On the other side of the brackets is the precious metal stamp "GOLD&PLAT." for platinum and gold. Carrington & Company was a maker of elegant, beautifully crafted cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's gold and platinum cufflinks were retailed at Tiffany's and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
