Carter, Gough Bloodstone Cufflinks![]() Heliotrope Moderne |
| Striking heliotropes set in bright, white gold
bezels. These elegant cufflinks are in the less-cluttered
Art Moderne style of the late Art Deco period. Created by
Carter, Gough & Co. in 14kt gold circa 1930. Heliotrope, also known as "bloodstone," is a beautiful variety of quartz with red spots of iron oxide embedded in dark green or black jasper. Heliotrope and other attractive varieties of quartz, such as moss agate, carnelian and citrine, were often favored gemstones in the gentleman's jewelry of the early 1900s.
The yellow gold backs of the cufflinks are as finely crafted as the fronts. The closed design of the backs helps protect the bloodstones, while the sturdy cross bars and tube brackets secure the cufflinks on the cuff. ![]()
