Carter, Gough Bloodstone CufflinksHeliotrope Moderne |
Striking heliotropes set in bright, white gold
bezels. These cufflinks are in the elegant Art Moderne
style of the late Art Deco period. Created by Carter,
Gough & Co. in 14kt gold circa 1930. Heliotrope, more commonly known as "bloodstone," is a dark green variety of quartz with smoldering red spots that glow like fiery embers resting in a bed of dark ashes. These elegant cufflinks are set with beautiful specimens of the alluring gemstone. The yellow gold backs of the cufflinks are as finely crafted as the fronts. The closed design of the backs helps protect the bloodstones, while the sturdy cross bars and tube brackets secure the cufflinks on the cuff.
Carter, Gough & Co. was a maker of elegant cufflinks, stickpins and other jewels during the early decades of the 20th century. The firm was known for its fine craftsmanship and the elegance of its designs. The maker's mark of Carter, Gough (an arrowhead enclosing a small "C") and the gold purity mark ("14K") are stamped on the cross bars. Name: Heliotrope Moderne |
