Elegant Arabesque CufflinksDiamond Arabesque |
Elegant cufflinks with an intricate arabesque
of twisting vines and stylized foliage surrounding a small,
sparkling diamond. The finely rendered, mesmerizing design
recalls the decorative arts of Moorish Spain. Created by
Hayden W. Wheeler & Co. in 14kt gold circa 1900. The backs of the cufflinks are finely crafted with strong cross bars and brackets securing the cufflinks when worn. A sturdy gold bar raises the brackets above the backs of the diamonds. Also note, the crisp edges and polished finish - no small details were overlooked by the maker.
Hayden W. Wheeler was a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels from about 1850 to the early 1930s. The maker's mark of the firm (a large "W" enclosing a smaller "H" and "W") is stamped along the gold cross piece raised above the diamonds. The purity of the gold is indicated by the "14" and "K" flanking the maker's mark.
