Gothic Revival Sapphire CufflinksGothic Sapphire! |
The architecture of the Gothic era is reflected in the design of these elegant gold cufflinks set with bright blue sapphires. The nested ovals, quatrefoils and diamond shapes bring to mind elaborate stone tracery surrounding a stained glass window in a Gothic cathedral. Created by J.R. Wood & Sons in 14kt yellow gold, circa 1920.
The cufflinks are beautifully crafted with strong cross links and backs polished to a bright gold finish. Although the backs of the cufflinks are not seen when worn, the maker took the time to assure that the cufflinks are as sturdy as they are beautiful.
The backs of the cufflinks are stamped with the maker's mark of J.R. Wood & Sons - "14K" followed by a sideways "W". The "14K" indicates the purity of the gold. J.R. Wood & Sons was a maker of fine cufflinks, wedding rings and other jewels during the Victorian period and first half of the 20th century. Name: Gothic Sapphire
