Art Deco Sapphire BroochArt Deco Geometry |
A jazzy Art Deco brooch in the bold geometric style of the 1920s. This striking jewel is accented with a French-cut man-made sapphire and two small pearls. Created by Krementz & Co. in 14kt white gold, circa 1925.
Though just over an inch long the brooch's design brings to mind the geometric intricacy of New York's Chrysler building and the other icons of Art Deco architecture. This jewel would have been the ideal accessory for an evening at the local speakeasy or a premiere at Grauman's Chinese and Egyptian theaters.
The beauty of the brooch is matched by the care with which it was crafted. Note the crispness of the cut-out work and the sturdy side walls that frame and protect the piece. When worn this jewel is secured with a strong pin stem and early safety clasp. The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Krementz & Company (a stylized collar button) and the precious metal mark "14K". Krementz was founded shortly after the Civil War and created finely designed brooches, cufflinks and other fine jewels through much of the 20th century. Name: Art Deco Geometry |
