Elegantly engraved platinum and gold cufflinks set with blue Sapphires and sparkling Diamonds. The beautifully engraved platinum tops are surrounded by dramatic borders of winged volutes and stylized blossoms. Crafted in platinum and 14kt gold, circa 1920.
 The backs of the cufflinks are crafted in 14kt yellow gold. The yellow gold is polished to a mirror-like finish. (Please excuse the dark reflections from my camera.) The cufflinks are secured on the cuff with sturdy brackets and cross bars.
 The cross bars of the cufflinks are marked "PLON14K" indicating platinum backed by 14kt gold. This style of platinum and gold cufflink was popular during the early decades of the last century.
Name: Sapphires and Diamonds! 
Sometimes known as "Night and Day" cufflinks, Sapphire and Diamond cufflinks were a reflection of the Victorian belief that diamonds should only be worn after dark. A gentleman could wear these cufflinks during the day with the sapphires facing outward. In the evening the cufflinks would be reversed to display the diamonds.
