Sapphire and Diamond CufflinksTiffany Art Nouveau |
Flowing Art Nouveau curves surrounding
sparkling blue sapphires and Old European-cut diamonds.
These elegant cufflinks were created by Tiffany & Company in
18kt gold in the years around 1900. Tiffany & Co. was
a significant influence in the development of the Art Nouveau
style in North America. The backs of the cufflinks are as carefully crafted as the fronts. They are attached with sturdy figure-eight cross members, a bridge style favored by Tiffany & Co. during the early 1900s. There is elegance in the simplicity of the design and the jeweler's attention to small details.
The reverse of the cufflinks show the maker's mark of "Tiffany & Co." Although Tiffany's offered fine cufflinks created by many of the makers featured in the Antique Cufflink Gallery, the firm also designed and created cufflinks of its own. This pair is a wonderful example.
