Elegant Engraved Yellow Gold CufflinksUnderstated Elegance! |
The cufflinks of the first half of the 20th century were often beautifully ornate jewels crafted in platinum and gold, sometimes called "confections for the cuff." But the period is also known for beautifully crafted cufflinks that shone with an understated elegance.
This solid pair of 14kt gold cufflinks is nicely decorated with alternating bands of engraved lines, bright finish and a stippled center. The edges of the links are milgrained. They date from the late 1930s to the 1940s.
The cufflinks are well constructed with three-piece cross bars and sturdy brackets. The backs are polished with a mirror-like finish. The maker's mark is visible to the left.
