Fin de Siecle Egyptian Revival BroochPharaoh and Peacocks |
A resplendent pharaoh attended by proud peacocks, a winged scarab and serpents guarding a small pearl. This beautiful Egyptian Revival brooch is finely modeled with many rich details. Note the pharaoh's flowing headdress, his/her expression of bemused acceptance and the fine details of the winged scarab. Clearly, it is good to be Pharaoh! Created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold circa 1900. The elegance of this brooch is matched by the care with which it was created. On the reverse, you can see this jewel's sturdy construction. Note, the strong pin stem and "C" clasp that secure the brooch when worn and beneath the pin stem a chatelaine hook from which a small watch or pendant can be suspended.
The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank - a crescent pierced by an arrow. The other side of the clasp is stamped "14" for the purity of the gold. Whiteside & Blank created elegant, finely crafted brooches, cufflinks and other jewels in the years around 1900. Name: Pharaoh and Peacocks |
