Art Nouveau Swan Brooch![]() Tulips and Swans |
| A wonderful Art Nouveau brooch with a cluster of
enamel tulips framed by two sinuous swans. Above the
flowers three small diamonds sparkle like early-morning dew
drops. The miniature scene is placed in relief by a
background of subdued green and yellow enamels. Crafted in 14kt gold, this brooch was created by Krementz & Company around 1900. Krementz was one of the premier makers of Art Nouveau jewels in the United States. One of their hallmarks was the use of pastel enamels, like the soft yellows, greens and whites of this brooch. Cost: Although this beautiful brooch has sold, you will find many more fine brooches in the Antique Brooch Gallery. |

By examining the rear of the pin you can see its sturdy construction and the solid base which supports the diamonds and enamel flowers. Also note the chatelaine hook from which a small watch or drop pendant can be suspended.
![]() The clasp of the pin shows the hallmark of Krementz & Company - a stylized cuff or collar button. Krementz was founded in 1866 and made many wonderful enamel and gold flower jewels during the late Victorian and Art Nouveau periods. The opposite side of the clasp is stamped "14K". |
