Elegant Gold and Enamel CufflinksBlack and Gold II |
Rich black enamel borders surround golden foliate wreaths and abstract geometric centers. The center motifs are reminiscent of Japanese and Chinese designs. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1920.
The backs of the cufflinks are well crafted. Note the sturdy cross bars and brackets that secure the links and the mirror-like finish of the gold surfaces.
The cross bars are stamped with the precious metal mark for 14kt gold ("14K"). To the right of the gold mark is the maker's mark for R. Blackinton & Company (a sword impaling a capital letter "B"). Blackinton was a maker of fine jewelry and accessories in gold and silver.
