Art Deco Jade StickpinBrassler Jade |
Sinuous Art Nouveau curves and a
classical laurel wreath border frame a luminous green,
giraffe-head jade. A striking early Art Deco stickpin
created by Hans Brassler in 14kt gold circa 1910.
Brassler was a wonderfully imaginative jeweler who created a small collection of strikingly beautiful stickpins and other small jewels in the years around 1910. He often wedded elements of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and classical design to create alluring miniature works of art. The stickpin is finely crafted with a sturdy gold pin stem and strong collet securing the jewel when worn. The maker's mark of Hans Brassler ("14B" surrounded by a double oval) is stamped on the lower reverse. The mark is partially hidden by the pin stem (see photo below). Cost: $645 |
