borders. This full dress set epitomizes the sophistication
and elegance of the Art Deco era. Created by Carrington
& Company in 14kt gold and platinum, circa 1925. |

 The reverse of the cufflinks, shirt studs and vest buttons are crafted in 14kt gold. The maker's attention to detail can be seen in the smooth, rounded contours of the backs and the sturdy linkages that secure the cufflinks on the cuff. The backs are polished to a bright finish. (Please excuse the shadowy reflections of the camera.)  On the backs of the cufflinks and vest buttons the maker's
mark of Carrington & Co. (an angular "C" enclosing "14")
is stamped. A similar Carrington mark "C14" is stamped
on the stems of the shirt studs. Each of the pieces is
also stamped "GOLD&PLAT." for the purity of the precious
metals.  During the first half of the 20th century Carrington was one of the preeminent makers of fine dress sets and cufflinks. The firm was known for excellence in craftsmanship, the use of fine materials, and elegant designs. Carrington dress sets were retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
