Carrington Blue CufflinksCarrington Blue |
Finely engraved platinum tops accented with
a regal blue enamel band. The maker of these cufflinks,
Carrington & Company, worked with a passion for excellence
in craftsmanship, design and materials. The elegant,
balanced design is like a miniature work of abstract sculpture
that is as captivating today as it was nearly a century
ago. Crafted in platinum and 14kt gold, circa
1925.
The backs of the cufflinks are finely crafted in 14kt yellow gold. Sturdy cross bars, rings and brackets ably secure these cufflinks on the cuff. Carrington was adamant about the quality of even the small, often hidden, details of its cufflinks. For example, note the ends of the brackets which have been slightly beveled to ease the passage of the cufflinks through a cuff.
The cross bars are stamped with the maker's mark of Carrington & Company, a "C" surrounding a "14" for the purity of the gold. Above the brackets "GOLD & PLAT" is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks indicating the precious metals. Carrington & Co. was one of the premier makers of fine cufflinks, dress sets and other gentleman's accessories during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's cufflinks were retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
