Platinum and Pearl Dress SetCarter Whites |
The early decades of the last century was a
time of elegant cufflinks and striking dress sets. This
wonderful Art Deco dress set features cufflinks and shirt studs
with cross reeded platinum borders surrounding creamy white
mother-of-pearl centers. Created by Carter, Gough &
Co. in 14kt gold and platinum, circa 1925.
Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs. Like the cufflinks, the studs are finely crafted in platinum and 14kt gold with cross reeded borders surrounding elegant mother of pearl centers.
As with all fine jewels, you should examine cufflinks closely from every direction. The backs of these cufflinks are beautifully crafted in 14kt yellow gold. The maker's attention to small details can be seen in the mirror-like finish, the clean, crisp edges, and the sturdy cross bars and barrel brackets that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. Please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.
This dress set was created by Carter, Gough & Company, a maker of fine gold and platinum jewelry during the early decades of the last century. The maker's mark of Carter, Gough - a small "C" inside of an arrowhead - is stamped on the back of each cufflink and shirt stud just to the right of the "14K" and "PLAT." precious metal marks. Name: Carter Whites
