Opal Fireworks

Brilliant opals dance with color like fireworks in the night sky. A mesmerizing display of subtle flashes of blue, green and red that is captivatingly beautiful. These elegant cufflinks were custom created in 14kt gold during the second half of the 20th century.

The gemstones are opal triplets in which a flat-cut opal is sandwiched between a clear, slightly domed top and a dark, sturdy back. The clear tops and dark backs help protect the opals (a usually fragile gemstone) while throwing the play of color into high, dramatic relief.

These custom cufflinks were finely hand-crafted in 14kt gold. The quality of the workmanship is seen in the clean, crisp edges, the sturdy construction of the bezel settings and the solid back bars. The fronts and backs of the cufflinks are connected with a five link chain. The design of the cufflinks helps date them to the second half of the 20th century, perhaps the 1970s.
