Art Nouveau Sapphire StickpinSapphire and Pearl |
A bright blue sapphire and luminous pearl are
set amid elegant goldwork wedding Art Nouveau curves with Gothic
geometry. The sharp angles and openness of the design
recall the stone tracery surrounding stained glass windows in
Medieval cathedrals. Created by Frank Krementz Co. in 14kt
gold, circa 1910.
Frank Krementz was one of the brothers who founded Krementz & Co. after the Civil War. Around 1910 he decided to follow his own direction and founded Frank Krementz Company. Over the next several decades his firm created artistically unique cufflinks, stickpins and other jewels. The firm was known for the beauty of its designs and fineness of its craftsmanship.
Cost: Although this elegant stickpin has sold, you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery. |
The photograph below illustrates the care with which this stickpin was crafted. The maker's mark of Frank Krementz Company (a reversed "F" abutting a "K") and a gold purity mark "14" are stamped on the lower reverse. The marks are partially obscured by the pin stem.
