Art Moderne Sapphire CufflinksSapphire Moderne |
Rich blue sapphires set in bright platinum
finely engraved with nested circles and radiating spirals.
These cufflinks shimmer with the sophisticated elegance of the
late Art Deco of the 1930s. Created by L.E. Garrigus &
Co. in platinum and 14kt gold, circa 1935.
The yellow gold backs of the cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts. Note the sturdy cross bars and brackets that secure the cufflinks on the cuff. The backs are polished to a bright finish - please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.
The reverse of the cufflinks are stamped with the maker's mark of L.E. Garrigus & Co., a flowing double-ended scroll beneath "14" for the purity of the gold. L.E. Garrigus was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the middle years of the 20th century. The firm's gold and platinum jewels were sold by the finer jewelers of the day.
