Art Deco Enamel CufflinksArt Deco Enamel |
Elegant Art Deco cufflinks with jazzy
guilloche enamel centers surrounded by white gold borders of
stylized palmettes and intricate geometric motifs. The
enamels are an understated shade of magenta with subtle flashes
of red, yellow and green. Unfortunately the shimmering
iridescence of the enamel work cannot be captured with a still
photograph. Created by Jacob Hookaylo in 14kt gold,
circa 1925.
Elegant cufflinks are beautiful from every direction, even the backs. Here the backs are crafted in yellow 14kt gold and polished to a mirror-like finish - please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera. The cufflinks are secured on the cuff with decorative winged cross bars anchored in sturdy brackets.
The centers of cross bars are stamped with the maker's mark of Jacob Hookaylo, an "H" inside a diamond-shaped frame. Jacob Hookaylo was a Russian emigré who created fine cufflinks and other jewels during the Art Deco era in Newark, New Jersey. The opposite side of the cross bars are stamped "14-K" for the purity of the gold.
