Elegant Art Deco Cufflinks

Rose Garlands

Finely engraved yellow gold centers with triumphant rose garlands framed by white gold borders of stylized scrolls and foliage. These elegant cufflinks capture the triumphant, jazzy exuberance of the early Art Deco era. Created by Jacob Hookaylo in 14kt gold circa 1925.

The yellow gold backs are finished with finely polished surfaces and crisp edges. Elegant winged bridges and sturdy brackets secure these cufflinks on the cuff. The winged bridges were a signature of Jacob Hookaylo and help us attribute these cufflinks to his workshop. (Please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.)

Jacob Hookaylo was a gifted jewelry designer and goldsmith who emigrated from Russia to the United States in the early 1900s. During the 1920s and 1930s the Hookaylo workshop created finely designed, elegantly engraved cufflinks that are miniature masterpieces of Art Deco art
