Carnelian and Gold CufflinksArresting Carnelian! |
Arresting, sultry red carnelian. Carnelian is a finely grained variety of quartz favored during the early 1900s. The pairing of flaming red carnelians with bright yellow gold reflects the jazzy color contrasts of the Art Deco era. Created by Wm. Huger & Co. in 14kt gold, circa 1925.
These elegant cufflinks are as well crafted as they are beautiful. The backs of the cufflinks are solid 14kt yellow gold polished to a bright finish. Note the strong cross bars and sturdy brackets that secure the cufflinks on the cuff.
The maker's mark of Wm. Huger & Co. (an ornate "H") and the gold purity mark ("14") are stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. William Huger was a noted maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels during the early decades of the 20th century.
