Art Nouveau BroochThe Dream! |
An exquisite, petite brooch of a woman serenely dreaming amid lucky clovers. The woman's profile and the four-leaf clovers are beautifully enameled in soft pastel shades. The clovers are set with sparkling dew drop-like diamonds. Created by Krementz & Company in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
Viewing the reverse of the brooch it can be seen how beautifully it is crafted. The profile of the woman is modeled in the round with the reverse as finely detailed as the front. Also, note the sturdy horizontal crescent that anchors the clover and other elements of the brooch. The brooch attaches with a sturdy pin stem and "C" clasp.
One side of the clasp displays the maker's mark of Krementz & Company - a stylized collar button somewhat resembling a nose and moustache. Beneath the maker's mark the clasp is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold. Krementz & Company was a maker of fine brooches, cufflinks and other jewels from the late 1860s through the 20th century. One of the firm's specialties was beautifully enameled flower and figurative brooches in the Art Nouveau style. Name: The Dream |
