Beautiful Art Nouveau CufflinksArt Nouveau Scrolls! |
Art Nouveau flowing, feathery scrolls. Art Nouveau jewels often reflected nature reimagined in fantastic, Dr. Seuss-like forms. The flowing design of these cufflinks was possibly inspired by waves crashing along a rocky shore or ferns unfurling in an early Spring forest. Created by Link & Angell in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
The cufflinks are well constructed. The decorated tops are connected with curved bridges to sturdy bean backs. The bridge securely attaches to the top with a distinctive double "U" bracket favored by Link & Angell. The maker's attention to finish and small details is highlighted by the elegance and simplicity of the design.
These cufflinks were created by Link & Angell, makers of fine cufflinks and other jewels from 1871 to about 1930. The firm was known for its beautiful scrolling and figural cufflinks during the Art Nouveau period of the early 1900s. The maker's mark of Link & Angell, three links of a chain enclosing "L", "&" and "A", is stamped on the inside of the bean backs along with "14K" for the purity of the gold.
