Moss Agate and Gold CufflinksMoss Agate II |
Beautiful antique cufflinks featuring fine Moss Agates with the appearence of dark green seaweed floating in sunlit water. The oval Moss Agates are set in 14-karat yellow gold. Created by Sansbury & Nellis, circa 1920.
In the decades around 1900 jewelers and jewelry lovers embraced the mysterious, protean beauty of Moss Agates. In no small part inspired by the efforts of George Kunz, Tiffany & Company's famous gemologist, there was a growing interest in lesser known, exotically beautiful gemstones. These Moss Agates are a wonderful example.
Well crafted cufflinks are beautiful from every direction. The backs of these cufflinks are crafted in 14kt yellow gold polished to a bright finish. The cufflinks are secured on the cuff with sturdy cross bars, stirrup connectors and strong strap brackets.
Sansbury & Nellis was a maker of fine cufflinks and gold jewelry during the early decades of the last century. The firms's maker's mark ("S-N") is visible on the reverse of the cufflinks along with "14-K" for the purity of the gold.
