Elegant Carnelian CufflinksCarnelian and Gold |
Sultry red-orange carnelians smoldering like
glowing embers in a dying fire are set in striking yellow gold
bezels. The dramatic contrast of the fiery red of the
carnelians with the yellow gold of the settings is
quintessential Art Deco. Created by Sansbury & Nellis
in 14kt gold, circa 1920. As with all finely crafted cufflinks, the backs of these cufflinks are as nicely finished as the fronts. The gold backs are polished to a bright finish and secured on the cuff with sturdy cross bars, stirrup links and strong strap brackets.
The backs of the cufflinks are stamped with the maker's mark of Sansbury & Nellis ("S-N"), a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewelry during the early 1900s. Sansbury & Nellis was especially known for creating elegant cufflinks set with fine colored gemstones. To the right of the maker's mark the gold purity mark ("14-K") documents the purity of the gold.
