Tiger Eye and Gold CufflinksTiger Eye! |
Striking cufflinks with beautiful Tiger Eyes set in rose gold. The domed cabochon Tiger Eyes are brown accented with just a hint of green and rich honey colored "eyes." Created by Sansbury & Nellis, circa 1920.
The early 1900s was a period of rapid innovation among cufflink makers. Each maker tried to outdo the others by creating cufflinks that were both easy to put on and securely attached once on the cuff. This pair of Sansbury & Nellis cufflinks is an example the "spool" design that was briefly popular in the years around 1920.
Sansbury & Nellis was a maker of fine cufflinks and gold jewelry during the early decades of the last century. The firms's maker's mark ("S-N") is visible on the reverse of the cufflinks along with "14-K" for the purity of the gold.
