Mesmerizing Art Deco CufflinksMesmerizing Elegance! |
In the early Art Deco period cufflink makers embraced intricate, richly detailed designs. The resulting cufflinks have a dazzling, almost mesmerizing, effect. These gold and black cufflinks are an elegant example with stippled borders outlined in black enamel and a profusion of floral and geometric elements. Created by Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss in 14kt gold, circa 1925.
The reverse of the cufflinks reflects how well they were crafted. Note the sturdy four-footed brackets and crossbars which help secure these links on the cuff. The small details speak to the care with which antique cufflinks were designed and crafted.
The crossbars are stamped with the maker's mark of Wordley, Allsopp and Bliss ("WAB"), makers of fine cufflinks and jewelry during the early decades of the last century. The opposite side of the crossbars are marked "14K" for the purity of the gold.
