Edwardian Tourmaline and Pearl BroochTourmaline and Pearl |
A lovely brooch from the early 1900s with fine
gold filigree work framing a vibrant green tourmaline and six
luminous, graduated pearls. A wonderful jewel created by
Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss circa 1910.
This brooch is finely crafted. Note the crisp edges of the filigree and cutout work on the usually hidden underside of the jewel. A strong pin stem and early safety clasp serve to secure the brooch when worn.
The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss ("WAB"), a maker of fine brooches and other jewels during the early decades of the last century. Beneath the maker's mark "14K" is stamped for the purity of the gold. Name: Tourmaline and Pearl |
