Art Deco Sapphire CufflinksSapphires and Garlands |
Sparkling blue sapphires set beneath a flourish
of golden garlands. The Neoclassical-inspired centers play
beautifully against white gold borders sparkling with a repeated
dart motif. An elegant example of Art Deco
design created by Ziething & Co. in 10kt gold circa 1925.
The backs of the cufflinks are as finely crafted as the fronts. The polished surfaces glow with a mirror-like finish and strong cross bars and brackets secure the cufflinks when worn. Note the sturdy "quad" brackets that protect the undersides of the sapphires.
The maker's mark of Ziething & Company (a "Z" inside a vertical lozenge) is stamped on the cross bars. Ziething was a maker of richly detailed, finely engraved cufflinks and other jewels during the 1920s and 1930s. The opposite side of the cross bar is stamped with "10K" for the purity of the gold.
