Carrington Jade CufflinksCarrington Jade |
Beautiful spinach green jade cabochons set in
bright yellow gold. The verdant lustre of the jade and
high polish of the gold create an alluring warm glow.
(Please excuse the inadvertent reflections from my camera and
lights.) Created by Carrington and Co. in 14kt
gold, circa 1900.
These cufflinks are beautifully constructed with sturdy straight bridges connecting the oval fronts to "bean" backs. The sturdy bridges and oval ends securely hold the cufflinks on the cuff, while the solid gold backs protect the jade cabochons. The insides of the tops are stamped with the maker's mark of Carrington & Company (a squared "C" enclosing "14").
Carrington & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm was known for fine craftsmanship and exceptional materials. Carrington created elegant cufflinks for Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
