Platinum and Pearl Dress SetCarrington Pearl and Platinums |
During the first half of the last century
Carrington & Company was a renowned maker of elegant
cufflinks and dress sets. This Art Deco dress set features
cufflinks, shirt studs and vest buttons with mother-of-pearl and
pearl centers surrounded by ornate platinum borders.
Crafted in platinum and 14kt gold, circa 1925.
Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs. The mother-of-pearl and pearl tops measure 5/16" in diameter and 1 1/8" in length. The studs have spring loaded backs - a design first patented by Halsey M. Larter in 1898. The studs are crafted in platinum and 14kt gold. The four vest buttons are the same size as the cufflinks, 9/16" in diameter. The platinum borders of the vest buttons, cufflinks and shirt studs are engraved in a bold geometric pattern that is characteristic of the Art Deco period. The backs of the cufflinks, studs and vest buttons are crafted in 14kt gold polished to a mirror-like finish (please excuse the reflections from our camera). The maker's mark for Carrington & Company, a "C" surrounding "14", is visible on the reverse of the cufflinks, as well as the precious metal marks for gold and platinum, "GOLD & PLAT".
