Enamel and Pearl Tuxedo SetCarter Tuxedo Set |
The early decades of the last century were a
time of elegant cufflinks and striking dress sets. This
wonderful Edwardian dress set features gold cufflinks with
Mother of Pearl centers surrounded by white enamel
borders. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1910. Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs. Like the cufflinks, the studs are crafted in 14kt gold with Mother of Pearl centers surrounded by white enamel borders. As with all fine jewels, you should examine cufflinks closely from every direction. The backs of these cufflinks and studs are crafted in 14kt yellow gold. You can see the maker's attention to detail in the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure the links. Please excuse the reflections from our camera.
This dress set was crafted by the jewelry firm Carter, Gough & Company, makers of fine gold and platinum jewelry during the first decades of the last century. The maker's mark for Carter, Gough - a small arrowhead surrounding the letter "C" - is visible on the cross bars of the cufflinks and shirt studs. To the left of the maker's mark is the precious metal mark for the purity of the gold ("14K"). Name: Carter Tuxedo Set |
