Catch the Wave!

A pair of Victorian cufflinks with ovoid shapes and featuring an intricate wave-like pattern.  Perhaps the stylized waves were inspired by the Japanese woodblock prints that became the rage during the late Victorian period.  The cufflinks are crafted in 10kt gold and date to the turn of the last century, circa 1900

Turning over the cufflinks,  you can see how the tops were stamped out from a thick sheet of 10kt gold and then attached with sturdy bar links.  When considering a jewel always spend as much time examining it from the back, as you do the front.  The best clues to a jewels history and condition are often found on the underside.
