Art Nouveau Grape Vine CufflinksGrape Vines |
Art Nouveau artists embraced sinuous, whiplash
curves drawn from nature and inspired by the imagination.
These elegant cufflinks feature entwining, twisting grape vines
that flow to create the borders of the design. Ideal
cufflinks for both a Bacchanalian fete and a quiet dinner with
wine. Created by Larter & Sons in 14kt gold, circa
1900. As with all fine jewels, you should carefully examine the reverse of antique cufflinks. These cufflinks have sturdy bean backs attached to the fronts with deeply curved split bridges. The flare of the bridges assures that the links rest safely on the cuff and remain horizontal. These cufflinks were created in the early 1900s by the jewelry maker Larter & Sons. The cufflinks are stamped on the top of the bridge "14K" for the purity of the gold. Just to the right of the gold mark is the maker's mark for Larter & Sons, a profile of a shirt stud patented by the firm in 1898. Name: Grape Vines
