Larter & Sons Diamond CufflinksRoses and Diamonds |
Wreathes of blossoming roses and thorny leaves
surround raised gold centers set with small sparkling
diamonds. The fine details of the goldwork and slight rosy
blush of the gold add to the charm of these elegant antique
cufflinks. Created by Larter & Sons in 14kt gold,
circa 1900.
The cufflinks are beautifully crafted with strong, curved bridges and sturdy struts attaching the tops to the bean-shaped backs. Larter & Sons was a maker of fine cufflinks and other gentleman's accessories from the mid 1860s through much of the 20th century. A "14K" golds purity mark and the Larter maker's mark are stamped on the tops of the bridges. The pairing of roses, a symbol of passion and beauty, with diamonds, a symbol of strength and eternity, is suggestive of an unspoken message that we leave for the reader to interpret.
