Elegant Art Nouveau CufflinksArt Nouveau Scrolls! |
A tangle of sensuous scrolls enlivens these Art Nouveau cufflinks from the turn of the last century. The tight, twisting swirls are characteristic of Art Nouveau jewelry created in America. Created by Link & Angell in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
The backs of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. The solid gold tops are attached to the backs with sturdy "Y" bridges. The solid tops add to the delight and durability of the cufflinks.
The maker's mark of Link & Angell, three links of a chain enclosing "L", "&" and "A", is stamped on the inside of the bean backs. Link & Angell was founded by William Link in 1871. The firm created fine gold and sterling cufflinks until the early 1930s. The bean backs are also marked "14K" for the purity of the gold.
