Elegant Gold Floral CufflinksThe Golden Garden |
Dramatically rising stems, joyous flowers and
sinuous, tangling foliage fill these wonderfully graphic
cufflinks. The dramatic design reflects the influence of earlier
Art Nouveau and Japanese works of art. Finely crafted in
14kt gold, circa 1920. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, western artists and jewelers were drawn to the arts and artifacts of Japan. These cufflinks are a striking example of this influence on early 20th century design.
The reverse of these cufflinks are as finely crafted as the fronts. Note the maker's attention to small details in the sturdy cross bars and strong brackets that secure these cufflinks on the cuff, the crisp, finished edges, and the bright polish of the gold surfaces. All evidence of the maker's commitment to fine craftsmanship.
One side of the cross bars is stamped "HALLMARK", the maker's mark of United Jewelers, Inc. United Jewelers was an association of independent jewelers founded in New York City in the early 20th century that created fine cufflinks and other jewels during the 1910s and 1920s. The opposite side of the cross bar is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold.
