Antique Gold CufflinksArabesque! |
Victorian jewelers found inspiration in the designs and arts of ancient and distant cultures. These cufflinks are a wonderful example reflecting the intricate arabesque designs of Moorish Spain and the Middle East. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
The backs of the cufflinks are beautifully crafted with polished gold surfaces and sturdy crossbars to secure the cufflinks on the cuff. Please excuse the reflections from my camera.
These cufflinks were made by Hayden W. Wheeler & Company, makers of fine cufflinks and other jewelry from about 1850 until the 1930s. The maker's mark for Hayden W. Wheeler (a large "W" enclosing a smaller "H" and "W") is visible on the reverse of the cufflinks. The purity of the gold is indicated by the surrounding "14K". Name: Arabesque!
