Art Deco Sapphire StickpinSapphire Geometry |
A maze of nested squares frames a bright blue
sapphire and small sparkling diamond. An elegant example
of Art Deco geometric design created by Whiteside & Blank in
14kt gold, circa 1925.
Whiteside & Blank was a maker of fine stickpins, brooches and other jewels during the late 19th and early 20th century. The firm was known for its imaginative, striking designs executed to a high standard of craftsmanship. Whiteside & Blank's creations were retailed at Tiffany & Company and other fine jewelers of the day. The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (an arrow piercing a crescent) is stamped on the reverse of the stickpin along with "14" for the purity of the gold. The photograph below shows the care with which this stickpin was crafted and the maker's and gold marks to the right. Cost: $435 |
