Art Deco StickpinEgyptian Revival |
An Art Deco stickpin in the dramatic Egyptian
Revival style of the early 20th century. A stylized lotus
blossom, or perhaps it is a palm frond, rises above a luminous
pearl framed by exotic, intertwining scrolls. This elegant
stickpin was created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold,
circa 1915.
The arts and architecture of ancient Egypt were a source of inspiration for late Victorian and early 20th century jewelers. The passion for the time of the pharaohs gave rise to everything from luxurious movie palaces to the smallest of finely crafted jewels. This striking stickpin is an elegant example. Cost: $385 |
The reverse of this stickpin is as finely crafted as the front. Whiteside & Blank, the maker of this stickpin, created elegantly beautiful jewels in gold and platinum during the late 19th and early 20th century. The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (an arrow piercing a crescent) and the gold purity mark ("14") are stamped on the lower reverse of the stickpin behind the pin stem. |
